She has been a resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation, the International Center for Art in Italy, the Pottery Workshop in China, the Ceramic Center–Berlin in Germany, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, and the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art in Poland.

Eric Pardue, WV

Eric Pardue is an artist based in Milton, WV. After receiving a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Alfred University in Alfred, NY, Eric went on to serve a year’s residency at Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in Maine and a year’s apprenticeship with New York based ceramic artist, Jeff Shapiro. Returning to his home state, Mr. Pardue set up a studio where he has pursued various ideas in clay and currently works in low fire earthenware with applied imagery. These images, covering a broad range of topics, serve to tell stories that share interests both specific to the maker and, hopefully, that engage the viewer to develop their own narratives from the pieces.

Laura Zindel, VT

Laura received a BFA in ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in ceramics from the University of Massachusetts. She studied art history with RISD European Honors Program in Rome, Italy. She was artist in residence at the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works in PA and at the Anderson Ranch Art Center in CO. She has taught ceramics at SF City College and the Academy of Arts College in San Francisco.

Ashley Benton, GA

Ashley is a mixed media artist living in Savannah, GA. She has been exhibiting her work for more than twenty years in the US and internationally. After graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design she followed her love of big mountains, clear rivers and blue skies to Colorado. There she continued to make art, raise a son, open a yoga studio and ride horses. In 2014, Ashley moved home to Georgia and began focusing on gallery representation and expanding her practice. Currently she is represented by the Wally Workman Gallery, Austin, TX and the Ivy Brown Gallery, NYC.

Lori Katz, VA

Lori Katz is a studio artist working in clay and mixed-media painting. She is known for the striking strength and simplicity of her work. Her current body of work is an exploration of surface and texture. Lori’s work has been included in definitive shows and art fairs in the US, Europe and Asia. Her pieces are included in the permanent collection of the US Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan, the Racine Art Museum, the IBM Corporation, Amazon Web Services, New York Presbyterian Hospital and in numerous private homes and collections. Lori’s work can be seen on television and in movies; most recently in Succession, Inventing Anna and Maggie’s Plan. Lori maintains a studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA.

Peter Karner, CO

Peter Karner works with porcelain and stoneware. His pots are thrown, thrown and altered, or hand-built. To achieve visual depth in his patterning, he employ five elements. Four of these—wax resist, latex, dipping and brushwork of glazes—are applied to bisqued pots. The pots are then high-fired in a reduction atmosphere with the intent of trapping carbon in the base glaze. It is trapped carbon that is the fifth and random element. Each pot is designed to serve a functional purpose and is compatible with modern appliances.

Alex Marshall, CA

For Alex, Alex Marshall Studios’ is not just about creating product, but also an exploration into conceptual ideas. One of her favorite themes is the notion of one in many, repeating the same form over and over but with varying results. Alex’s touch influences every piece. From shaping to firing and glazing each step is an opportunity to create slight nuances. This makes for products that are as individual as the people using them. All of Alex’s ceramics mold comfortably to the human hand, literally connecting the artist to the collector.

Tracie Hervy, NY

Tracie Hervy’s education in ceramics began in the studios of Greenwich House Pottery in NYC. She later studied at the Rhode Island School of Design where she received an MFA in ceramics. Her most recent work is inspired by the simplicity of prehistoric vessels. All superfluities are stripped away to reveal the essence of: cup, bowl, plate.

Ellen Robinson, NY

Each item is made in Ellen Robinson’s studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The use of white glaze over terra-cotta in this collection is inspired by the painted mixed-media sculpture of Cy Twombly, who once remarked, “white is my marble.” Most meaningfully for Robinson, she makes each piece using hand-building techniques where touch is recorded in the clay, embedding each mark and gesture with a memory. It is an inherently imperfect technique that touches on our human condition and, to her mind, is all the more compelling.
