Internal Logic highlights Taylor’s sense of what makes an image “work” and offers insights into the shape and contours of her inspirations. Her deep archive of images that return to her art are a lexicon through which to communicate her multi-layered imaginings. Each image contains the keys to understanding the corpus of other images.

The Carl Sublett Retrospective will run from June 3rd, 2022, to June 25th, 2022. Bennett is proud to present a retrospective of Carl Sublett’s work post-retirement from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Carl Sublett was a Knoxville local who divided his time between Knoxville and his home in Maine; much of his work is influenced by the landscapes of Eastern Tennessee and Maine. Carl is best known for his landscape paintings and abstract works; his dark color palettes evoke a sense of nostalgia and draws the viewer in with the essences of his works.

I want my pieces to be held, touched and used to make the everyday more enjoyable. The pieces, of course, stand on their own as objects. I also have to confess to the fact that I am an avid gardener, especially of flowers, and I am selfishly on a quest for the perfect vase for every flower.

- [Carl Sublett](https://bennetthome.com/projects/carl-sublett/): Carl Sublett exhibited widely throughout the United States and internationally, earning numerous awards and honors, including election to the National Academy of Design in 1976. As a founding member of “The Knoxville Seven,” he helped define a generation of regional artists. His work has been included in museum exhibitions, international programs, and the inaugural exhibition of the Knoxville Museum of Art.
- [Ed Nash](https://bennetthome.com/projects/ed-nash/): Much of Ed Nash's work has a deep connection with the Japanese aesthetic wabisabi, which can be described as one of beauty that is imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. His paintings and mixed media work are a response to modern day society’s view of visual perfection. The work reflects and celebrates the patina produced through the passage of time and exposure to the elements.
- [Petra Class Jewelry](https://bennetthome.com/projects/petra-class-jewelry/): Founded by German-born designer Petra Class, Petra Class Jewelry is known for its sculptural, handcrafted fine jewelry created from high-karat gold and vibrant, ethically sourced gemstones. Petra grew up and was educated in Germany, studying art history and philosophy at the University of Stuttgart before completing a rigorous traditional education in metalsmithing and design.

Blending ancient goldsmithing traditions with modern aesthetics, Gurhan has reintroduced the warm, luminous beauty of pure gold to the world of luxury jewelry, creating pieces that transcend time and trends.
- [Cheryl Warrick](https://bennetthome.com/projects/cheryl-warrick/): Cheryl Warrick is a Boston-based painter known for richly colored, quilt-like compositions that reflect an ongoing exploration of wisdom and personal journey. Her work weaves together folk wisdom, proverbs, symbols, and landscapes, inviting viewers to move slowly through each painting.
- [Michael McChesney](https://bennetthome.com/projects/michael-mcchesney/): Michael McChesney received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN with majors in Art and Physical Education. After teaching art in California and Minnesota, he opened a custom jewelry shop where he turned client's ideas and designs into reality using a variety of processes that included lost wax, fabrication and hand-wrought methods. He now devotes all of his time to his artwork.
- [Graceann Warn](https://bennetthome.com/projects/graceann-warn/): Graceann Warn is an American artist whose paintings and assemblages explore excavation as both process and metaphor—an ongoing act of uncovering, covering, and revealing. Born and raised in New Jersey, Warn earned her degree in landscape architecture from Michigan State University and later pursued a Master’s at the University of Michigan, where her formal training in landscape architecture and classical archaeology continues to inform her work’s structure and sense of place. A pivotal encounter with an exhibition of Mark Rothko’s final paintings proved transformative, prompting her to devote her life fully to art. Since 1985, Warn has maintained a full-time studio practice, exhibiting and collecting work nationally and internationally. Drawn to palimpsests, scarred walls, and vestiges of thought, her quiet yet complex works evoke fragmented histories and elusive meaning, inviting viewers into a porous landscape where time, memory, and language intersect. She lives and works in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with her husband, Geoff.
- [Diane Hanson](https://bennetthome.com/projects/diane-hanson/): Diane Hanson, originally from West Concord, MN, graduated from the Minnesota Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley, MN. She earned a BFA in painting from Boston University School for the Arts in Boston, MA and an MFA in painting and printmaking from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. Previous awards include Best in Show for Forum 35’s 2010 Art Melt, Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, Fulbright Grant (Miguel Viciguerra Grant) and Travel Grant to Italy, Artist Assistance Fellowship Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, Leo Chestler Contemporary Visual Arts Award, a full fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center, and a residency at the Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies. Ms. Hanson was a juried artist at the ArtCenter/ South Florida in Miami Beach from 2004-2006 and a resident artist at the Bakehouse Art Complex from 2014-2015. Ms. Hanson currently lives and works in Miami, FL.
- [Brad Sells](https://bennetthome.com/projects/brad-sells/): Brad Sells first learned to throw clay at the Appalachian Center for Crafts, a satellite campus of Tennessee Technological University, where he earned his B.S. in psychology. His artistic path shifted when he carved a bed frame from cherry wood for his home—an experience that revealed his true medium. Sells’ career gained momentum when his work was awarded Best in Show in a competition juried by renowned furniture maker Sam Maloof, whom Sells counts as a role model. His pursuit of new materials and inspiration led him to South Africa in 2007 and Hawaii in 2009, where he explored exotic woods and regional traditions. Guided by the grain and texture of the wood itself, Sells shapes fluid, sculptural forms that celebrate the natural knots, lines, and contours of each piece.
- [Brad Aldridge](https://bennetthome.com/projects/brad-aldridge/): Born in 1965, Aldridge was committed to art from a very young age. In junior high school, he attended art classes at the University of Arkansas; during his college career at Brigham Young University in Utah, he pursued his BFA and began exhibiting his art nationally. He attended the University of Arkansas to pursue his MFA. He now lives in Moroni, Utah, and continues to paint and create landscape pieces that are reminiscent of 19th century Romanticism and Tonalism, with loose brushstrokes common in 20th century art.

- [Timothy Berry](https://bennetthome.com/projects/tim-berry/): Timothy Berry received his BA in creative writing from Denison University in Ohio in 1970, and completed his MFA in Fine Arts at the Central School of Art in London in 1974. Upon returning to the United States, he developed the Intaglio Publishing Program at Landfall Press in Chicago, Illinois. A year later, he formed Teaberry Press, America’s first one-person Intaglio workshop which led to him being recognized as one of the founders of the etching revival in post-WWII America. In 1977, Berry moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to teach at the San Francisco Art Institute, run Teaberry Press, and continue painting. He has recently retired after 20 years of teaching painting, drawing, and printmaking at University of California, Davis.
- [Allen Cox](https://bennetthome.com/projects/allen-cox/): Allen Cox, a native Oregonian, is a well-known abstract painter now residing in Pasa Robles, California, after a long stint in Knoxville, Tennessee. He holds an MFA in painting from the University of Oregon, where he studied with the highly regarded Pacific Northwest abstract painter Frank Okada. He also worked as a field archaeologist and scientific illustrator for 10+ years in Oregon, experiences which heavily impacted the themes found within his art. Cox has been showing his work nationally since 1982, and held his first international exhibition in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2003.
- [Scott Duce](https://bennetthome.com/projects/scott-duce/): Scott Duce is an international artist who currently works out of New York City on film and animation projects. He attended the University of Utah in 1981 for his BFA, and furthered his education at Boston University in 1983 when he received his MFA.
- [Kat Green](https://bennetthome.com/projects/kat-green/): is a contemporary abstract painter based in High Point, North Carolina, where she works from her studio at Cohab Space. She creates both intimate small-scale works and large-format paintings across paper, canvas, and wood panels using mixed media.
- [Richard Jolley](https://bennetthome.com/projects/richard-jolley/): Born in 1952 in Wichita, Kansas, Jolley moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in his youth. In 1970, he began learning under glass artist Michael Taylor at Tusculum College in Greenville. He followed Taylor to George Peabody College—now part of Vanderbilt University-- in Nashville, Tennessee and completed his BFA there. Later, he learned more about glasswork under Richard Ritter at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Jolley has now lived in Knoxville, Tennessee since 1975.
- [Marga McBride](https://bennetthome.com/projects/marga-mcbride/): Sculptor, painter, and mixed media artist Marga Hayes McBride has been “making things” ever since she can remember. She has worked in the artistic field all of her life, beginning as a layout artist on Music Row in Nashville, TN, to becoming Art Director for one of the largest hospitals in the USA, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. She made the switch to fine art in 1988, working as a gallery assistant, manager, and finally Gallery Director for art galleries in Tennessee. While working in galleries by day, Marga studied drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture at night at the University of Tennessee.
- [Christine Peloquin](https://bennetthome.com/projects/christine-peloquin/): Christine Peloquin is a 2-D mixed media artist and has been selling her artwork for over 35 years. She is currently showing her work at Arts on Douglas Gallery in New Smyrna Beach and here at Bennett.  She has also shown in numerous galleries around the country including Studio E Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens, Atelier Galleries in Asheville, NC and Charleston, SC, Matre Gallery, Atlanta, GA, Longstreth-Goldberg Gallery in Naples, Hanson Gallery, Knoxville, TN, Loretta Goodwin Gallery, Birmingham, AL, Blue Gallery, Kansas City, MO, Orlando Museum, FL, and Kristal Gallery, Sugarbush, VT. She has been teaching her mixed media techniques since 2009 and offers workshops at her studio in Sorrento, FL and across the US. She has been published in numerous books and magazines such as Somerset Studio, Studio Visit and American Art Collector. She has also self-published her first children’s book with her mixed media and watercolor paintings called, “If You Could Tell Time, What Would You Tell It?”
- [Andrew Saftel](https://bennetthome.com/projects/andrew-saftel/): Andrew Saftel, born in New Bedford, MA in 1959, earned his BFA at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1981. From there, he continued to hone his skills by displaying his abstract colorful pieces in galleries across the country, largely in the Southeast.
- [Denise Stewart-Sanabria](https://bennetthome.com/projects/denise-stewart-sanabria/): Denise Stewart-Sanabria was born in Massachusetts and received her BFA in Painting from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst. She has lived in Knoxville, TN since 1986.
- [Margaret Scanlan](https://bennetthome.com/projects/margaret-scanlan/): Margaret Scanlan has been doing Color Field painting for more than thirty-five years, often times depicting natural feats like poppy fields or quiet cows watching the viewer. She states how, “I return to them over and over, aiming for perfect balance and images in which you can become lost.”
- [Maggie Taylor](https://bennetthome.com/projects/maggie-taylor/): Maggie Taylor, born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1961, is an artist who lives at the edge of a small swamp on the outskirts of Gainesville, Florida. She moved to Florida at age 11, where she spent countless hours watching situation comedies and science fiction on television. Later in life, she received a philosophy degree from Yale University, followed by a master’s degree in photography from the University of Florida.
- [Michael Underwood](https://bennetthome.com/projects/michael-underwood/): With an eye for striking visual composition, award-winning director/cinematographer Michael Underwood has built his reputation upon a unique artistry and aesthetic sense that reflects his eclectic background and expertise in a variety of media. Diverse in concept and content, the wide range of styles that makes up his body of work all bear one defining hallmark:  the ability of Michael to uncover a fresh, timeless, creative vision for each new project he turns his attention to. Armed with his rich motion picture background and trained cinematographer’s eye Michael entered the world of fine art.
